DALLAS, TEXAS (May 30, 2025) – The tradition returns! Registration opens Sunday, June 1 for the 58th annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot presented by Texas Health. Join thousands in Downtown Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, for the ultimate turkey day tradition or trot from anywhere with the virtual option.

This year’s event will provide unforgettable fun with:

  • Double Costume Contests: Strut your stuff—and your pup’s—in a fierce turkey-themed competition (or any costume you fancy:      superheroes, homemade, etc.)
  • Pup Medals: The first 750 dogs to cross the 5k finish line will win a medal
  • Diaper Dash: Watch the little ones “race” on a 12-foot mat in their own competition onesies
  • Themed Merch: Participants will receive race goodies and a commemorative t-shirt
  • Family Zone: Kids of all ages will enjoy the Family Zone      with games,      music and      a family photo with      our giant turkey.

“Last year’s Trot filled downtown with families, pets, and trained athletes. Roughly 22,000 people participated, some registered for the walk/run while others were part of the timed race,” said Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “That’s the beauty of the event, people come to spend time with their families or use it as a way to prepare for future marathons. We’re ready to give Dallas another amazing Thanksgiving morning.”

For those who want help getting Trot-ready, join our presenting sponsor, Texas Health, in “Train to Trot,” a free self-paced program and online Facebook community to help North Texans go “from not…to Trot” in time for the big day. Learn more at TrotWithTexasHealth.org.

For timed 8-Mile or 5K, tickets are $39, while untimed tickets are $34. Timed youth (under 12) 8-Mile or 5K, tickets are $32, untimed youth are $27. The Tot Trot registration is $15 for babies and toddlers. Strollers are allowed on the 5K and 8-mile courses, and families with strollers are encouraged to start at the back of the untimed corral. Participants can also add their dogs to the dog trot for $15 (all dogs must be on a leash and owners must clean up after them).

Participation fuels vital YMCA programs, such as chronic disease prevention, swim safety lessons, youth sports, community food distribution, camps, pre-school education, and much more in communities the Y serves, including Dallas, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Palo Pinto and Rockwall counties.
